Fleming Hosts CCAA Curling Championships

Fleming College Welcomes Sixteen Curling Teams From Across the Country

The Fleming College Athletic Department will be hosting the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Curling Championships from March 21st to March 24th.

The City of Peterborough is well known for its rich curling history with competitive teams at the elementary, secondary, university and college levels plus the club level at provincials and nationals. In the winter there is always curling happening at the local curling clubs.

Curling teams from across the Country will compete at the Peterborough Curling Club representing Ontario, Alberta and Prince Edward Island. The four day event promises to be an exciting one. Opening Ceremonies will take place on Wednesday March 21st, followed by the round robin competition on Thursday, March 22nd and Friday, March 23rd. The event will come to a close on Saturday March 24th with any tie breakers, the finals and Closing Ceremonies.

Fleming College is pleased to bring back the National curling championships after a break for close to 20 years. “We have representation from three provinces at this year’s championship and we hope in the coming years to have all five conferences represented” says Fred Batley, Athletic Coordinator at Fleming College.
