Knights compete for the title of OCAA Curling Champions against athletes from across the province.
Peterborough, ON February 11, 2020– Fleming College will host the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Curling Provincial Championship from February 12 – 16 at the Peterborough Curling Club, located in Peterborough just minutes from Sutherland campus.
The OCAA provincial championships which will showcase teams from colleges across Ontario for a four-day bonspiel. This bonspiel brings together men’s, women’s and mixed doubles curling. Practices begin on Wednesday, February 12 with matches starting on Thursday, February 13. Games continue until semifinals on Saturday, February 15 and the bonspiel concludes with finals taking place on February 16. The opening ceremonies take place on February 13 at 6:30 pm, while the awards banquet for participating athletes will be held at the Peterborough Curling Club on February 14.
This will be the second of three provincial championships hosted by the Fleming Knights in the 2019-20 season, and the first time the Knights have hosted the OCAA provincial curling championship. “Fleming is looking forward to welcoming seven colleges, a total of 19 teams from across the province,” said Jane Bolin, Varsity Coordinator for Fleming College Athletics and Recreation. “With matches anticipated to be highly competitive, there is no better time to become a spectator. Come cheer on your Fleming Knights at the Peterborough Curling Club with the men’s and women’s teams playing at 10:15 am on Thursday.”
